As a teenager, Chen had a hobby of making things to give to her friends. As an adult, she made her pastime into her profession. Chen's jewelry designs are fresh, fun, dramatic and timeless.
She's an artist who lives in Hadera, a city between Tel Aviv and Haifa, near the Mediterranean Sea. Her studio has a window that overlooks her beautiful garden. So naturally, she's inspired by the colors and shapes of the flowers that grow there.
Her philosophy is simple...create joy. She believes that it is the small things in life that make you happy. "To see a new flower in my garden, to have coffee with a friend, to go for a morning walk and see the sun...all of these things make me happy." And it is from this uplifting perspective that she finds her creative spark.
Her process is organic. Chen says that when she enters her studio, she can't wait to spread the beads and jewels across her workbench, mix the colors and find new combinations of tints and textures. It makes her feel alive.
Using high quality genuine leather cords, in many colors, she studs them with gold or silver charms, tubes and beads, Swarovski crystals and semi-precious stones, to create unique looks. Many of the charms carry messages of Joy, Hope, or Luck. And some bear a Cross or a Star of David.
Her name, Chen, in Hebrew means Grace or Favor. In scripture, it literally means to bend in kindness to another. Surely her optimistic outlook on life, and the meaning of her name, are reflected in the grace of her jewelry.
